WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

Inspire, the vital community that supports millions of patients and caregivers, advances understanding of the health journey, and partners with the medical community to accelerate life-changing discoveries, is seeking an experienced Senior QA engineer to build and oversee our quality assurance team.  You will work with cross-functional teams to  create the premier platform for patients and caregivers to connect with one another and support each other throughout their personal health journey.   From concept to implementation and delivery, you will collaborate with teams to bring Inspire features to life.  Our QA engineer will be responsible for:

  • Implementing and improving testing procedures 
  • Testing support for Inspire’s web application tiers including front-end functional testing, middle-tier testing of web services and other APIs and testing back end data processes that include other systems such as Alterian.
  • Collaborating with product designers and engineers to define functional specifications and  determine product quality goals and measurements for new features
  • Working with product managers and stakeholders to be sure what they asked for is what’s getting released
  • Build product test strategies, write and execute test plans, file bugs using Jira, and communicate with the team about issues, risk, and product quality
  • Ensuring the successful deployment of our major web and mobile applications
  • Helping our developers understand and fix bugs on our site

Requirements

WHAT WE NEED:

Our site is undergoing modernization and growing at the same time.  Our pace of development is rapidly increasing. Our next teammate will have skills and/or knowledge that includes:

  • At least 3+ years of proven experience in QA engineering
  • Expertise in the development of test strategies, conducting regression and performance tests
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • Willing to take on new challenges, but also willing to do the daily QA chores
  • Actively looks for ways to improve our products and processes.
  • Ability and interest in learning new technologies, techniques and processes quickly.
  • Dedication to quality and a positive, collaborative attitude and approach to testing
  • Extremely self-motivated; able to find opportunities for improvement and tackle them, without external direction.
  • Experience in writing automation test scripts using various scripting languages is an added advantage. (Selenium with python are preferred)
  • Experience using Jenkins or Github actions is an added advantage. 
  • QA Engineering experience in the following environments:
    • Knowledge of Amazon Web Services
    • Knowledge of Python, Javascript, Selenium
    • Knowledge of Core Web technologies (HTML5, Javascript, AJAX, DOM manipulation, CSS basics)
    • Web,  iOS or Android application development
    • Knowledge of MySQL, PostgreSQL, Aurora, DynamoDB
    • Linux system configuration and administration (including file system, permissions, certificates, networking, etc.)
    • Understanding of security principles (Web/database server, network, end user privacy/security)
  • System-aware: cognizant of how changes affect other parts of the system
  • Highly proficient in working with Jira and Confluence is a plus
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, constantly changing atmosphere and able to prioritize work and communicate challenges
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to interact with technical and non-technical team members
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or relevant field is preferred, however relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Skills:

  • Understanding of Analytics (Google Analytics, DataDog, others) is preferred
