ABOUT THE ROLE

The Head of Design leads Inspire’s experience design, user interface design and brand design, ensuring that all visual elements add up to a cohesive whole. This is a critical leadership role, reporting to the head of Marketing, and is also embedded in the Product teams. Much of this leader’s work is focused at the intersection of Product and Marketing, with responsibility for shaping the product experience for Inspire’s 10 million annual users.

Our new team member will:

  • Define a UX vision, strategy and roadmap for all company products
  • Organize the skill sets that deliver the UX necessary to execute great design that drives business goals
  • Infuse the culture with a design thinking mindset—a creative approach to solving business, product, and user problems
  • Embody the principle that outstanding user experience is critical for user growth, and company value
  • Partner with Product to create best in class visitor and member experiences, and serve as a user advocate in considering decisions that impact visitors and members
  • Collaborate with leaders in Product, Marketing, and Engineering teams in creating improved product design, development and performance practices
  • Champion a point-of-view regarding the relative importance of various design initiatives, based on quantifiable outcomes
  • Attract and retain key UX, UI and design talent and build a culture around innovation, iteration and collaboration
  • Supervise 3+ junior staff responsible for UX, UI and brand design
  • Drive UX improvements by identifying and removing critical organizational blockers required to deliver against business goals

Requirements

WHAT WE NEED:

  • Deep background/understanding of UX, UI, design thinking, and design operations
  • Strong aesthetic sensitivity – an ability to know what is aesthetically pleasing and why
  • 12+ years experience in experience design, 5+ as a manager
  • Demonstrated ability to use UX and UI to drive business objectives
  • Ability to solve problems quickly, think creatively, and simultaneously manage multiple projects
  • Collaborative, with the ability to work with and influence counterparts from various business units without direct reporting accountability
  • Persuasive, with a strong work ethic, leadership skills, and a disposition to action
  • Able to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
