About This eBook

“Our stories are our power”  says Benjamin Miller, PsyD in the forward for this compilation.  Inspire’s members are eager to share their stories to encourage change in healthcare. This year of Scope columns include stories from young people facing enormous challenges.  One is by a non-smoker, college athlete diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer.  Another chronicles exhausting experiences in hospitals of a high school sophomore with juvenile dermatomyositis, a rare autoimmune condition. Our ebooks called “Experts by Experience” are special reports by Inspire developed in cooperation with Stanford University Medical School. They are a compilation of a year’s worth of columns written for the Scope medical blog, from patients of all types and backgrounds.  These Inspire members are part of engaged communities of trust at Inspire.com.
