LIVING WITH PSORIASIS

Members share their experiences using CBD and cannabis for psoriasis

There are currently no FDA-approved CBD- or cannabis-based treatments for psoriasis. However, some people with the condition use these products to help manage their psoriasis symptoms. Inspire members living with psoriasis share details of their experiences using cannabis and CBD to treat and manage their condition in the Psoriasis Community.

These posts represent a small sample of Inspire members’ experiences with CBD or cannabis. This content should not be used as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. As always, consult with your doctor before trying any new treatments or medications.

Some members experience relief of their burning, itching, and flaky skin using CBD topicals:

“CBD oil works for me. The most concentrated dose works best. Applying it every day works best. A lesion stops itching almost immediately. The flakes are soon gone as well. They heal completely in a month or two.”

Other members find these products provide no relief at all:

“I have access to some CBD skin cream, which still has a lot of THC in it (homemade by some friends), and early on in my disease progression I used that on my new spots, and it did NOTHING to stop the onward march of full-blown psoriasis.”

Some members even found these products triggered their psoriasis or other conditions:

“I have tried it as it is legal in my country, and I find cannabis makes my psoriasis generally flare.”

Some members found that cannabis and/or CBD help with the pain, stress, and sleep disruptions that can often occur as a result of a psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis flare:

“I am a regular user of cannabis and it definitely helps with psoriatic arthritis pain and eases stress over psoriasis. I have not used it as a topical but when I consume it it relieves stress, makes me sleep better, and move more with ease.”
